My Story

Hi, my name is Justin Caniglia and I am currently working on my PhD studying nutrient dynamics and antibiotics within varying Nebraskan landscapes under the advising of Dr. Steven Thomas. My research will inform health and environmental agencies to benefit Nebraska communities by providing insight on the occurrence, exposure, and transportation of antibiotics in our landscapes. As well as inform surface water managers and municipalities on the distribution of key nutrients across different landscapes in western Nebraska.

I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and spent majority of my time outdoors with my two older brothers and two younger sisters. This time gave me the opportunity to appreciate the land and especially our water systems. My past research has primarily focused on developing laboratory methodology for analyzing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in multiple environmental matrices to determine environmental loading in the Midwest. Prior projects dealt with assessing nitrate, ammonium, and phosphate within the prairie corridor and assess the occurrence of atrazine across the corridor.

When I am not working you will find me fishing, hiking, running, or spending time with my family!
