The CSD Drilling Program drills over 10,000 combined total feet annually throughout Nebraska. Drilling produces subsurface geological samples that are essential for identifying and studying the geology and hydrogeology of Nebraska. Geological samples are tangible evidence needed for research, geological mapping, and hydrogeological mapping and modeling. The CSD Drilling Program is integrally responsible for the installation of monitoring wells for the Real-Time Groundwater Monitoring Network.
